Fred was a remarkable person in so many
ways. He had a special gift for making people feel comfortable and be
willing to open up a real dialogue. He was a superb practitioner of what
politics was and should be, namely the art of being able to search and find
a common ground on policy issues and when that is not possible to be able to
disagree without being disagreeable.
He was a great story teller and he had so
many interesting and important stories to tell.
